Why do matching bore, outside diameter and width not prove bearing interchangeability?

The envelope is only one part of the specification

Bore, outside diameter and width describe the space a bearing occupies.

They do not, by themselves, identify the contact angle, internal clearance, cage, sealing arrangement or load ratings. Even a dimensionally standard bearing can be supplied in executions intended for different operating conditions. A replacement review therefore needs the complete designation and its manufacturer's explanation, alongside the dimensional drawing. This distinction is especially useful when a quotation says only “same dimensions”: that statement answers a packaging question, while the machine also needs the correct load support, location and operating behaviour. It is reasonable to treat equal dimensions as an initial screen, not as a completed engineering substitution.

Turn “equivalent” into a comparison that can be checked

Create separate rows for the envelope, shaft and housing interfaces, internal execution, published performance data and supplied contents.

Enter each quoted product's actual information, marking absent values as unknown. For example, two offers might both fit a 25 mm shaft and occupy the same housing space, yet one offer omits the seal and clearance suffixes. The useful result is a short list of unresolved specification differences, rather than an unsupported yes/no decision. Ask the supplier to identify those execution fields against the equipment requirement. Keep the comparison with the quotation so that a later substitution cannot quietly discard a requirement that the original offer satisfied.
