The cage is a functional component, not a naming detail

A cage spaces and guides the rolling elements, and manufacturers offer different cage materials and constructions for different bearing executions.

JTEKT discusses pressed, machined and synthetic-resin cages as distinct options. A supplier's abbreviated basic designation may therefore omit information that mattered in the original selection. Keeping the cage code or full execution description allows its temperature, lubrication and application conditions to be checked. It does not mean that one material is automatically superior, or that the old execution must always be retained without review. It means that changing the cage is a technical change that should be visible in the comparison.

Capture the operating questions before accepting an omission

When two quotations match on envelope and basic designation, add a row for cage material and execution.

Ask whether the proposed product is the same execution or a documented alternative. Record the actual speed, temperature range and lubricant relevant to the application, together with any manufacturer restrictions that apply. For example, replacing an unspecified cage description with “standard cage” does not tell the reviewer what changed. The useful response names the construction and links it to the exact product record. If that information cannot be supplied, keep the cage field unresolved instead of assuming it is irrelevant because it is hidden inside the bearing.
