The purpose of heating does not establish a universal temperature

Heating can expand a bearing ring enough to facilitate installation, reducing the mechanical force required for a tight fit.

It can also affect grease, seals and other execution details if the method or temperature is unsuitable. NSK's mounting guidance discusses controlled heating and cautions about prolonged high temperature, particularly for sealed bearings. A general mounting example is therefore not a universal temperature permission for every bearing. Identify the exact product's restrictions and the equipment manufacturer's method before setting the heater. Reaching a convenient temperature quickly is not the same as establishing a suitable, uniform and controlled mounting condition.

Use a heating record that names the relevant limits

Include the bearing designation, sealing and lubrication state, authorised heating method, temperature-control equipment and the procedure's limits.

Record the temperature measurement location and heating duration where the procedure requires them. For example, a log saying only “heated for five minutes” does not establish the ring temperature or whether the complete bearing execution was suitable for the method. Keep any installation and seating checks linked to that record as well. If a limit cannot be confirmed, obtain the exact instruction rather than borrowing a temperature from another bearing family. This creates evidence about the process actually used without implying that every successful hot installation was technically acceptable.
